ain't no valley low enough

Thinking about Tessa and Scott's various exhibition programs since their latest one is so epic.

Their earliest gala program seems to be one from juniors and is a repeat of their original dance. Super cute but this is little Tessa and Scott we're talking about, so everything was super cute. They both looked so very young still when they did this program.

After that, we saw the first go-around of Everybody Dance Now. That's become one of their iconic programs, I think. They used it as the exhibition for the Olympic Games and Worlds in 2010 and on the Stars on Ice tour that followed. The early version of it was especially adorable but I liked it better when they were older and Scott could do naughty things like pat her bum.

No Me Ames is one that I've struggled to get through. I don't like the music and it didn't seem to suit them.

Tennessee Waltz is one of my favourites and I wish there were more versions of it. I love their costumes and it's perfectly sweet and suited for them. They were at the perfect age then to pull it off. It's not something they could do now that they're older.

Black Magic Woman is hawt and is something I wish they'd revisit again now that they're older and more mature. Tessa was still pretty young when that one was around! I must see them do something slinky, sexy and sultry before they hang up their skates.

Dare You To Move is kinda generic. I'm meh about it. I don't like her dress and they perform it well but it's nothing special. One of my favourite moments happened before a performance of it though - Scott lifted Tessa's hand and held it to his heart.

I Could Have Danced All Night is one that I always forget exists! Did they only do it once?? I feel like I'm watching some AU versions of Scott and Tessa.

And then, of course, Jack & Diane. Another one that was perfectly suited for them. They used that one over the course of a couple of seasons. Scott in jeans and a white tee can do no wrong and neither can Tessa in her jeans and tied up blouse. It was fun to see them resurrect that number for the 2010 Calgary Stampede performances.

I Want To Hold You Hand. Oh, this. I loved this number even if I was kinda sick of it toward the end! The pretty red dress with the polka dot sash was my favourite costume for it but she never wore that again (...I wonder if that has anything to do with how much heavier she was when she wore that...) and the first time seeing it was pretty special. We saw it again at Worlds 2011 and then I saw it live at SOI. Summer was spent watching the performances of it from All That Skate and then at every Grand Prix event, Nationals and 4CC. That's a whole lotta hand holding.

Which brings us to the latest and most epic, Ain't No Mountain High Enough. I had no idea what to expect from them but a disco routine to a mo-town oldie wasn't anywhere near my list! Tessa's dress was damn near epic on its own. They looked like they were making it up as they went along but they couldn't stop smiling and I laughed through the whole thing. My squealing when they went into the Pink Floyd split-lift was probably deafening (wasn't it a split-lift that gave her problems last year? glad that she's been able to deal with that because her flexibility is amazeballs). I could have easily done without the goose but it's their signature move. Their smiles at the end of the performance at Worlds were worth every single nervous moment I've ever had for them. I can't wait to see this one again!
